On my last post, i talked a lil about humility(you can preview it with this link: https://steemit.com/steemchurch/@iamcaesar/steemchurch-humility ) . Buh on this post lemme talk about the direct opposite, "Pride".
Pride is a sense of superiority that makes a fellow look down on others. Pride is the feeling that influences a man to put confidence in himself instead of in God.

Man's Idea of Pride
Men generally view pride negatively. It is frowned at in practically all religions and sectors. However, men think that it is okay to take pride in ones achievements, qualities, and possessions, especially if they were acquired through hard work. This is dangerous because the real achiever is a very jealous God and He is also the consuming fire. We are never to take pride in anything but wholly ascribe oir achievements to the grace of God. Even the disciples of Christ had this attitude too. They found it hard to believe that the master, the very son of God will bend and wash their feet. Peter said in verse 8 of john 13: ".. Thou shalt never wash my feet.." But Jesus insisted, clearly stating that He was setting an example for them to follow (John 13:1-17). The significance of this act by Christ was to teach His disciple humility and servant-hood. He wanted them to know that leadership is in fact servant-hood.

God's Idea of Pride
Jeremiah 32:17 "Ah Lord GOD! behold, thou hast made the heaven and the earth by thy great power and stretched out arm, and there is nothing too hard for thee"
Out God is a great God, He created the heaven and the earth and all that is in them. He is exceedingly large and competent. He expect that it does not matter what position we are. We should depend completely on him, knowing that the God we serve is competent and powerful beyond our comprehension. To God, the moment you stop acknowledging Him as your source, you have become proud. The moment you start looking at your achievement and believing that you got them through your hard work and intelligence, pride has taken over. If you don't believe, ask king Nebuchadnezzar. Daniel 4:30 "The king spake, and said, Is not this great Babylon, that I have built for the house of the kingdom by the might of my power, and for the honour of my majesty? 4:31 While the word was in the king's mouth, there fell a voice from heaven, saying, O king Nebuchadnezzar, to thee it is spoken; The kingdom is departed from thee. 4:32 And they shall drive thee from men, and thy dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field: they shall make thee to eat grass as oxen, and seven times shall pass over thee, until thou know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will". Be careful when people praise you, immediately return the glory to God. When you just smile and thank you, you are playing with fire. One major thing the Lord uses to determine whether or not we proud is our heart. Nothing good comes from pride. The only option for true children of God is humility.
