When I was 14 years old, I discovered the term "freelancing" via watching YouTube videos in my free time. It was my pastime since I always dreamed of earning $10 per hour by working on my laptop, although I didn't meet 90% of the technical requirements. For those who don't know what freelancing is, it is a job where you can earn money per project and are self-employed. I thought it was only a term used by netizens to describe those who work online. Although I was eager to earn money online, I admit I was not fit for that job.
My interest in writing started when I got engaged with blogging in a crypto-blogging platform last January 11, 2020. Therefore, although I'm only 18 years old, I can already blog proficiently (not the best) even though I didn't study a course related to writing. It helps me to train my writing skills and also the way how I interact with other people. However, to make the story short, the reward system ended due to the ongoing situation of the crypto market. This situation makes me realize that there's always an end in every beginning.
Before I got to this point, I admit that I was already preparing to bid goodbye to the opportunity that honed my mindset and virtual skills. It helps me to support my financial needs, but their rewards are getting less to the point that I manifest to do something new. In fact, I published my last articles on that platform about my plans to be a virtual assistant.
Since I'm already confident about my newly learned virtual job skills and with my vast experience in blogging, I started to find legitimate gigs on Upwork and Fiverr. My only goal in these platforms is to look for clients who offer a part-time and flexible jobs. I am willing to work less than 30 hours a week, which is a viable approach because I know how to manage my time.
Upwork
I started to create my Upwork account last week and have already submitted four proposals. Out of the four proposals I gave to the hiring manager, I decided to withdraw my two proposals. After realizing I couldn't perform the work, I immediately withdrew my second proposal. On the other, I archived the third proposal since they updated their job description to provide 4-5 quotes. I would only show the job that I applied for if it is accepted or rejected.
Before filling in all the information needed to get an impression from the clients, I passed my resume first, highlighting my skills, personal information that I can disclose, and recent achievements. I don't know if there's an "acceptance stage" term since I instantly get to the next step after updating it. By the way, sorry if I won't publicize my created resume since it includes personal information like my home address and phone number.
If one or all of my proposals are considered, I would be happy and can finally tag myself as a freelancer. If that's not the case, I'm always free to try my luck again, and I always believe rejection means redirection. Like when I wasn't able to enter the admission to my dream public university, I realized that I should be grateful that I studied at my current private university. Everything happens for a reason, and we should always keep it in mind.
Fiverr
Although I knew that I only had less chance to be qualified due to the challenging competition, I will still try to keep this gig active by visiting it daily. To increase my chance of getting hired, I'll also add another gig related to writing, like content writing, blog writing, and so forth. It's not my priority to pursue a job related to writing since I want to take away works that I need to think about. Imagine you were tired from doing your academic papers, but your boss ordered you to write something you didn't know. Anyway, I submitted a proposal to Upwork about being a history blogger, and I know I can outdo the sample the client has given.
Commerical: If you need someone who can manage your GMail at a reasonable rate, kindly check this gig on Fiverr. Thank you, and have a good day.
But wait, there's more...
Although I'm already pursuing my plans to be a VA, it looks like my knowledge is not yet enough. These are the skills I'm considering to add in my resume. Anything online can be learned for free, but I want more accessible and specific lessons. My only problem is how I would put this in my time, especially since our classes begin in the first week of the month. I hope that I can finish them before our classes resume.
I want to say sorry in advance if I was skeptical about where I could publish this blog. It is the only community that I looked at which suits the topic. Feel free to comment if you could recommend a fitter community to ensure that I won't defy the community's rules if that's what I committed.
