If you ask me why “iamboring” is my username, I have many reasons. This Weekend Engagement prompt is a good opportunity to answer that question, which only one or a few people ask. Here are the reasons why I feel boring most of the time. I will also answer whether I feel uninspiring at all. I’ll focus first on my boring side, and the uninspiring part will follow.
During my internship days, a former colleague asked me what kind of work I wanted after graduation. I told them I wanted to work from home. By the way, I didn’t tell them that I already had clients while pursuing my college degree. My supervisor told me it would hinder my growth and that it was boring because I wouldn’t communicate much with others. Believe it or not, I’ve been dreaming of that life since I was in 9th grade. Now, I’m currently in my 4th year in college. This means that it’s been seven years since I dreamed of that kind of life.
At the moment, I’m working independently. I currently have two channels that I’m aiming to monetize. I also have an active TikTok affiliate account where I post four videos a day. On top of that, I post blogs here three to four times a week and do other side hustles. I’ll only look for a job if I don’t earn five digits by the first week of March.
While my friends’ and classmates’ priorities after school were looking for romantic interests or doing recreational activities, all I did was study. I also did side hustles like blogging automation from my virtual friend and affiliate marketing after finishing my tasks a year ago. I can say my life was boring because it only revolved around going to school, eating, doing homework, reviewing or researching, and sleeping. Most of my friends spent their time going out or drinking beers. Despite that boring life, I didn’t regret it. I still got along with my friends, like going to the mall or eating outside.
After my side hustles, I spend time on my hobbies, such as reading books, watching series, and streaming music videos. I don’t share my hobbies much with my friends because we’re very different. I simply enjoy doing these things alone.
If I had the chance to live in Japan alone, I would do it. I like how disciplined and quiet people are there. I believe many of them are introverts, which makes them creative, artistic, and innovative. My mom told me that life doesn’t only revolve around me and that my family needs me. I’m not saying I want to abandon them; I just want a peaceful life. The Philippines feels chaotic in terms of politics, wars, and undisciplined people.
If you ask me, I don’t think so. As an introvert, I can say that most posts about us are accurate. I once watched a video stating that introverts are better than extroverts. Introverts gain energy on their own, while extroverts gain it from people’s validation. When I was in high school, I was very shy speaking in front of others. As I grew older, I slowly gained confidence. I may be boring, but I’m not embarrassed.
Believe it or not, I don’t know if I’m uninspiring. Maybe my relatives see me that way because I’m very different from my cousins. However, when my virtual friends talk about how industrious I am in earning money, I often become a point of comparison. I also share my academic achievements on my stories, and I’m sure one or two people felt inspired by my success. I also question whether I’m uninspiring because I once had suicidal thoughts due to an academic rejection. But two years later, I won a regional competition from the same school that rejected me. So... IDK.
That’s all. Thank you for reading.
