HOW TO WRITE A SONG
Writing a song is not an easy job and moreover, there are various parts that need to be made and filled by capable and appropriate experts. A song is created by the emotions the writer wishes to describe in the form of music with words. It can be made by any sound and any words that come into the writer’s mind. However, the topic has to be kept solid and the words must be vague to lose meaning or the whole song would be pointless and be just a noise.
Every songwriter needs to keep in mind of these important points, namely:
A songwriter must acquire writing materials, a familiar instrument and above all, an inspirational topic driven by emotions.
A songwriter must also have basic knowledge in music. So they should compose even the notes and keys to the song. This job is not restricted to the writer only but the whole involved band members.
Songwriters must watch their punctuations as well as spellings and slangs. It may be a “straight-laced’ method but the songwriting is like Poetry because of different rhyming schemes.
According to the lyrics, the song must last a minimum of 2 minutes and maximum of 3 minutes. It should not be lengthy or be a waste of time.
Invite a partner to try the song and improve together. The best way to know its potential is to play and sing the song, preferably in a soundproof room.
Taking critics and suggestions in a composed manner in an ideal character a songwriter must have.
The songwriter must take control of the song while creating one. If the aim of the writer wavers due to multiple changes made in the song, the song would become rubbish.
Listen to your own recordings and reevaluate yourself and acknowledge valuable instructions by your band members. This will widen the scope of your own music.
If you are in a slump or ran out of ideas, that a break from songwriting and relax for sometime. After a well-relaxed mind and body then can you proceed.
There are different genres in the music culture and all artist follow these points because they are very similar in practice. Songs are meant to be written and heard. So keep writing and composing songs of your caliber and aim to compose as many as you can.
