In Myanmar, monks are respected by people. When the army occupied Myanmar and was in tyranny, monks rose to protect them as a shield for the people and shed blood instead. The monks fought against the army in their own way, and their non-violent protest, which seemed like a knife without a blade, protected their friend and family members more than any other weapon. So, for whatever religious reasons, the people of Myanmar truly respect monks and consider them to be teachers of life. And instead of being conceited or using their social status, monks follow the teachings of Buddha and do not want to sully the path of their ancestors by thanking them for their lives. For this beautiful tradition, being a monk is a honor for the people of Myanmar. So while traveling in Myanmar, you can see many children shaving their heads and choose to live a life of a monk. They may seem a pity for they live their lives as monks with their small bodies , but in fact they are living a life full of happiness.
