There are many ways to get around this Kampala city as far as public transport is concerned. Theseinclude bodas, matatus, special taxis, uber et al. But everyone knows for sure that bodas(motorcycles) are the quickest. However dangerous they might be, these babies are here to stay.
They'll swerve you through intense traffic like nothing. Once in a while you'll find yourselves being honked at by a 500 metric ton truck but no biggie if you don't get hit. Once in a while you'll have to share the boda with a stranger because you're both going the same direction and it's slightly cheaper that way. Today i had to share a boda with this girl that was already sitted but she got off for me to sit first. Shocked but not surprised Thanks to her for the kind gesture". She was a slim bodied person and technically it's better for the heavier person to sit behind. Why is it better? The lighter person can easily be displaced off the bike by the heavier one incase they shift/fidget or if the bike hits something bumpy say a pothole. In addition it also just looks better with the male at the back if he's bigger, taller or even of equal size. Some people will cry "men and their fragile masculinities" but it is what it is. Since girl had allowed me to sit first, i hopped on without a second thought. I was in no position to make demands. I didn't own the boda & neither was i on it first. I stood to benefit though because i didn't have to hold onto the bike whenever we hit a bump. I also didn't have that metal at the end if the seat rubbing at the intersection of my butt crack and waistline probably grinding my coccyx to shreds. I also had a warm body on my back & mammary glands pressed against my back. I also got to listen to the boda guy's endless conversation that was barely audible in the wind. The next time i ever have to share a boda with a girl, she's going behind.
