I still think you are coming from a position that the reward pool is someone’s property rather than a shared resources. It is not a paycheck. When an account votes her, that is not a company paying her. Me being a curator does not make my account a business. When I upvote someone they are not my employee. I am not telling her what to do with her money. We are not a union and she is not our fellow employee either.

A paycheck is delayed because modern banking is stupid, not because it is necessary to delay a paycheck. As soon as you work at all, the company you work for has incurred an expense. It does not matter if they pay you at the end of the day or the end of the month.

If I could take her tips, yea that would be stealing. If you tip someone, you already owned that HIVE and then you gave it to her. But if you upvote something, no one owned anything UNTILL the payout happens.

I think a lot of people WAY over react when there are downvotes and it makes it worse. Like I have a lot going on right now, she could have just stopped pinging me and I may have forgot about her account. I use this account like a normal person. I wake up, drink some coffee, and check my notifications. I had multiple instances where she left me a comment and it basically reminded me to downvote her blog. If she just left me alone in the first place I may not have even remembered to downvote her.

I don’t think downvotes are a tax and I think all this is an over reaction.

It’s not like this happened over night. She’s been downvoted for years and then I came along and agreed she should be downvoted.

You have been here WAY longer than me. You talk about whales like they are a monolithic group. It’s just random people on the internet with HIVE. The only time I am aligned with whales 100% is when I joke with them I’m waiting for my cabal offer. That’s the only big thing we have in common is a small group of people think there is some secret society of whales.

People have lots of different agendas here. You like to stand up for the little guy and fight corruption. That’s great! I have nothing against that. I do have something against entertaining the idea us owning hive means we can tax people like we are government officials.

The downvote is a tax thing is an interesting analogy. There are some ways in which it makes sense which you have explained. But the analogy is not perfect.

If downvotes were really a tax I think you would lobby to get rid of them not say they should be used in certain cases.

I think it’s ok if we “lose” members sometimes. They could always come back. A lot of times they do come back. They could give their account to a family member. It’s not like their account got deleted.

I honestly think HIVEs biggest problem is it’s way too complicated to get a new person setup. Like we should make that easier.

Have you ever tried onboarding a real life friend? I have and it’s usually a nightmare. Like HIVE is super confusing and it’s too good to be true. People can download an App, start blogging, and then they get free money and there is no catch? I mean it sounds like a scam to a normal person. The way hive is presented is kind of a scam. There is a catch when you get free HIVE from the reward pool. You get treated differently on here if you get HIVE for free vs you buy it. If you get HIVE for free from the reward pool, there is a baseline expectation for you to be a good stakeholder. Why do you think that baseline expectation exists? It’s because the reward pool is a shared resource.

I think auto upvotes are fine. She has an account that gets to benefit from some big auto upvotes. Good for her. But it does affect everyone else when that happens.

I honestly do not think her account is salvageable at this point when it comes to receiving rewards. Once people are even discussing auto upvotes because she keeps posting and does not know why she keeps getting upvotes, it’s becoming a bigger thing than her just getting downvoted. I have nothing against auto upvotes but she is making this a way bigger thing than it is.
