Some time ago, I was walking in the Malioboro are to the palace. Across the street from the Yogyakarta palace square there is an old building and a large beringin tree. I stopped and looked at the food cart, chicken soto being one of the items they were selling.
I sat outside under a shady beringin tree. Several people were ordering and some were finishing their meal. I ordered a bowl of chicken soto. Yogyakarta chicken soto is served with a clear broth and the spices certainly add to the flavor.
The vendor asked me if the rice was mixed or separated, I replied the rice is mixed in a bowl, with vermicelli, cabbage,shredded chicken, tomatoes, celery leaves,bean sprouts, spices and a clear broth. Not long after, a bowl of chicken soto arrived. On the table there was soy sauce, Chiki sauce those who liked could add it.
Under the tree I could feel the breeze flowing,the savory and fresh taste was what I felt Eating a bowl of chicken soto. And the price of one bowl of chicken soto is 25.000,- IDR or around ($1,43). Simple food at affordable prices.
