The Sukabumi region is divided into two, namely the city of Sukabumi LED by the mayor and the regency LED by the regent. The area of Sukabumi Regency is the largest in Java and bali.
The land is dominated by plantations controlled by the Dutch before indonesia's independence. And is estimated since the 18th Century. After indonesia's independence, it turned into a national plantation.
The pendopo building located on
Achmad Yani street, Sukabumi city.
Is also inseparable from the history of the Dutch people when they were in Sukabumi. So the form of the pendopo building influences the form of Dutch indies architecture and the form of traditional.
In general,in urban planning in Indonesia, especially in Java. The pendopo building is adjacent to city facilities. Such as Mosque and churches,economic facilities public markets and prisons.
The pendopo in Sukabumi faces north, facing an imaginary line on Mount Gede Pangrango. The pendopo building is a formal building and has a dignified character. The pendopo functions as the regent's official residence, as a government administration.
A place to receive guests from the central or provincial government, a place to serve the public and a place for official meetings. The Sukabumi pendopo does not stand alone.
But there are supporting buildings on the left wing for meeting facilities, the right wing is a building where the regent rest,sports facilities, a prayer room and other supporting building.
Before entering the pendopo building, there are two turtle monuments in a small park in the shape of the Sukabumi government symbol. Turtle cultivation has become an icon of Sukabumi Regency.
The pendopo building consists of several rooms, such as the front room in the form of a terrace. A terrace room decorated with several paintings, an exhibition room for handicrafts Made by the community.
The central room is quite large, several bedrooms, a meeting room between the regent and officials. Or meetings between the regent and the community,dining room, kitchen. The form of the Colonial building with adaptations to tropical forms.
Namely doors and windows high and large. And also the ceiling is quite high, the atmosphere of the room remains cool without using air conditioning.
