You welcome once again to the community very interesting post now back to your question
Twenty children can't play together for twenty years.
The word are true base on experience have never see twenty friends that as the privilege to play more than twenty years why because fate must have taken them away from each other, some might have even die along the way because this are something that are inevitable
Some might even be migration from one place to another we just thank God for phone calls but as we all know this call not be as sweet able like when you see because sometimes distance friend are very hard to keep
To answer the second question
WHAT ARE THE CRITERIA YOU LOOK FOR BEFORE CHOOSING A FRIEND OR BEFORE CONSIDERING SOMEONE AS A FRIEND?
Take a genuine interest in others: firstly you will makesure you mind is really the same with that person what did I mean by this ensure that you don't have any doubt in your mind make friend with such person
Be a giver, not a taker.: also ensure that the person is not after what you have because a friend will only surface only when you have and when thing went other way ran their disappeared that is were the true friend come up friend that will stand for you even when you have nothing
Be loyal. ... Loyalty is part of it as it is normally said that show me your friend and I will tell you who you are when you don't choose a friend that is loyal their will definitely teach you bad thing and this will affect you relationship with others
Be a positive person. ... This is one of the important part to also note,so friends we have now a days are not in anyway have positive mind with us, the truth is that if you success their will celebrate with you normally but inside of them it is evil their will be the one to spoil you at you back just because their never wanted your success and progress such type are not a really friends and should distance yourself from them.
Appreciate the differences in others: just like the above have mention a friend that will appreciate even when you are doing better than him and also celebrate well with you with true mind
Build on common interests: just like it is normally say your friend must have an impart in you either negatively or positively but the most important thing is to choose a friend that have a common interest with you I mean thesame goals so that you can both give yourself a good advice that will help each others
Be open, honest, and real: the truth is that never work with a friend that is hypocrite I mean someone that is not straight forward, a friend that will say this and you will see something different that is always the worse friends to work with but when a friend that is open, honest and real people around you will also respect you because you have making the right decision
I believe with the few point have make have able to convince you about the question looking forward to hear a response from you thanks

Definitely I sincerely agreed with you on this and I will say that we all need to be very watchful always.
There's really no criteria for being my friend. I hardly have a lot of friends not because they didn't match my standard or anything but because I feel it'll save me a lot of trouble.
Humans are a hard nut to crack sometimes, if you're a teacher in a class of 100 students you'll notice that you'll end up going home every day with migraines, lol because they're a lot of personalities to work with and it's not easy.
I always like to keep my circle small because it'll less of a stress.
About the kind of people I relate with. I like smart people, smart and funny people, not the geeky kind who's always serious, we tend to relate more. I enjoy staying around real people, people who take life as it comes, people who're not negative, those who have a drive and work towards achieving their goal. There's really a lot of reasons but sometimes it's just easy to connect to some people the moment you just see them. It's like at first sight, haha.
I know I didn't answer your question really well but I just gave an insight
