Hello Hive friends
In this post I would like to introduce you to one of the most beautiful cities in the Puglia region.
Apulia is one of the regions in the south of Italy that has been having a lot of success in recent years in terms of tourism, thanks to its territory and its beautiful sea.
Ostuni is one such town of about 30,000 inhabitants that has become very particular as a village because it is made up of a group of small houses built one on top of the other in white all piled up on a beautiful hill.
The white colour makes the suburb stand out and you can see it even from far away.
It is never clear why that colour was chosen there, but most probably because white keeps the house cooler unlike darker colours.
I advise you if you want to take beautiful pictures to go there around sunset, practically the colour of the sunset reflects off the houses and creates a beautiful effect.
But we will see that Ostuni is not just a simple old town, but also a fashionable town with its nightlife, and about 10 km from the town there is also its beach, which has recently been included in the blue flags this recognition is given every year for the quality of the sea and for the services that are offered.
When I was first in this historic town, I was fascinated by the narrow streets where these completely whitewashed cases look almost like a fairytale atmosphere, so I would definitely recommend a simple walk through them.
Definitely worth a visit is the cathedral, which is located right at the highest point of the town and apparently dates back to the 1400s, and from this characteristic Gothic fa莽ade, the interior is the classic Latin cross with three naves, of course there is a great Baroque influence, and this certainly happened in later years.
Of course, Ostuni is the classic mix for those who love historical things but also for those who are more of a naturalist and are fascinated by the sea. In fact, this town has a coastline that is about 20 km long, and the most beautiful feature in my opinion is the fact that there are also very small, hard rocks and the vegetation is very wild in places.
But where exactly is Ostuni?
It is located in the northernmost part of Puglia called Salento in the province of Brindisi, as I told you earlier, and being on a hill and about 200 m above sea level, the nearest airport is about 30 km away and is that of Brindisi, a non-international airport but one that is served by many flights, especially in the summer.
In the evenings, the town of Ostuni comes alive with small bars and clubs, let's say for young people, where they can have a drink and listen to good music, which is why this town is suitable for both young people and those with families.
Of course, excellent food and wine can be enjoyed in these parts, and we did a mix of tastings.
I hope you have found this post useful and thank you for reading it so far.
I hope you have the opportunity to visit these very interesting places in the future!
