Como la mayoría sabe, y los que no saben se informan en estos momentos, los XXXIII Juegos Olímpicos tendrán su inauguración este próximo viernes 26/07/2024 en un escenario montado sobre el río Sena que discurre por toda la Ciudad Luz, como suele llamarse coloquialmente a la capital de Francia.
Para comenzar a palpitar los diferentes deportes, competencias y atletas de nivel mundial que participarán en estas dos semanas y un par de días más, tengo algunas perlas de información que son curiosas y sorprendentes, vamos con la primera.
Si bien los juegos comienzan oficialmente con la fiesta inaugural el próximo viernes, en el día de mañana habrá actividad en varios deportes y un par de ellos muy importante para mí país ya que debuta el fútbol, disciplina que nos ha dado dos medallas de oro y otras dos de plata en la historia de este deporte en los JJOO; Argentina se enfrentará a Marruecos a las 10 de la mañana local, como una coincidencia para destacar, el mismo día y a la misma hora España hará su debut frente a Uzbekistán, es decir que debutan simultáneamente los recientes ganadores de la Eurocopa y la Copa América, algo curioso si tenemos en cuenta que el calendario se fijó bastante antes del resultado de ambas competencias.
Otro deporte que comienza el 24/07 es el rugby seven, disciplina donde también los argentinos tenemos aspiraciones de medalla ya que en el recientemente finalizado circuito mundial de rugby seven, el conjunto nacional terminó primero por encima de naciones con gran tradición en el deporte de la pelota ovalada, también es destacable recordar que Argentina ganó la medalla de bronce en los pasados juegos en Tokio. Este miércoles el combinado nacional disputará dos encuentros contra Kenia y Samoa.
El jueves 25/07 habrá más actividad tanto en rugby seven como en fútbol y harán su debut el balonmano y el tiro con arco.
Otra noticia sobresaliente de esta tercera edición de los JJOO en París, es que, por primera vez en la historia, la fiesta inaugural no será en un estadio, como dije al principio, la tradicional celebración de apertura se desarrollará a orillas del río Sena, prometiendo muchas sorpresas y características distintivas jamás vistas hasta el presente.
Otro dato curioso está dado por el surf que vuelve a presentarse en los JJOO luego de su buena aceptación en Tokio 2020, aquí mi país no tendrá representación, pero la gran curiosidad está dada por el lugar donde se desarrollarán todas las actividades de este deporte, será en Teahupo'o, en Tahití, Polinesia Francesa ubicada en el Océano Pacífico Sur, para trasladarse hasta este lugar hace falta un vuelo desde París de 22 horas. Ustedes se preguntarán por qué se eligió ese lugar tan distante, es sencillo, allí se supone que se consiguen las olas más grandes, más desafiantes y peligrosas para la práctica del surf.
Estamos a un día del inicio, no se ustedes, pero yo estoy ansioso y emocionado por ver deportes de alta competencia de los que no tenemos la oportunidad de disfrutarlos todos los días.
