ODD-1V

ODD-1V is what happens when a tiny company decides its granular hardware box should also exist as a plugin, and honestly the plugin is the one I'm more excited about. Oddment ships the same Microsonic granular engine in the ODD-1 hardware ($999) and the ODD-1V plugin, and patches move between the two.

The engine is genuinely unusual. Two independent layers, four playheads per layer, each with its own speed, pitch, and a thing called TIME PATH where the attack freezes, the held portion time-stops, and the release just continues. Four playheads can be scrubbing, freezing, or reversing different parts of the same sample while that morphs across the note's envelope. If you make industrial or horror-adjacent stuff, this is the kind of texture machine that eats a scream sample and hands back something that sounds like it crawled out of a wall.

The LIVE mode is the sleeper feature for me. It keeps incoming audio in a rolling buffer, so you can freeze or re-pitch live input polyphonically straight from your DAW. LOOPS records up to four sync-locked loops per layer, each with its own length and speed. That is a performance setup waiting to happen.

Honest notes: the plugin UI is still labeled beta, the factory preset library is small (more coming before end of 2026), and in-plugin sampling plus the LIVE and LOOPS modes land in November. The engine is done though, and at the intro price it's the cheapest way to get that hardware DSP on your machine.

Price: $149 through December 31, 2026, then $199. Mac and Windows, VST3 plus a standalone, AU on Mac. There's a demo that drops audio for 5 seconds every minute, and the hardware box includes a plugin license.
