Laziness is never going to help anyone and waiting to get lucky is a total waste of time. Yes, there are some people that are so lucky that any little effort they put into something just works out for them while there are others that no matter the effort they put in they always end up being unlucky.

Coming from the spiritual aspect, Christ said that it is all by his grace and if we want to succeed, before putting in the effort we should always put everything to God's hands and after putting in the effort we should also do the same. And for those who don't believe in God, luck is still definitely going to be on their side as long as they put in the effort or chose to take the easy way out. But then we will surely reap whatever we sow.
