What you write is true to make sure before you gets married that it is the right man.
Firstly if you are a Christian you should marry a Christian the Bible tells us so.
"Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness?"

I don't agree with your statement "that most men are wife beaters." What about all your wonderful Christian men on this platform? That is an insult to men in general.
You could have said "a lot of men are wife beaters".
(sorry I don't mean the critique in a bad way).
