I decide to write on torn notes that are not accepted by many traders because it is feared that there is no value when admitted to commercial banks. There are also Facebook friends who share stories about shops that receive torn paper money or have been torn in tears.

Some stores put a completed memo with examples would not accept torn paper, stamped, dumped and so on.

Many do not know that not all of these money have problems being exchanged in commercial banks (Maybank, CIMB, RHB, Public Bank etc.), we usually put money in to the children's piggy bank with such bad money until we are free to go to the bank .

How is paper money worthless?

  1. Less than half (1/2) of the original banknote.
  2. The damaged banknote in any obvious way (i.e., a sign made on the portrait of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, a post that illustrates the political slogan or uses the banknote as an invitation / write pad).
  3. The paper bleached badly so that it does not see the original design pattern of the banknote (may be affected by clorox etc)

Additionally, you should also see whether the paper money you received is less than two-thirds (2/3) of the original banknote size. If less then the value of the banknote will be less. So be careful to receive such money.

If only a little tear, do not need to send to Bank Negara Malaysia, sufficiently by going to commercial banks. If commercial banks do not want to accept then go to Bank Negara Malaysia branch.

dubious case
Any dubious case that makes it difficult to evaluate due to the banknote is in a damaged state (for example, a heavy paperweight burned or a paper break that is difficult to determine its size) should be referred to Bank Negara Malaysia for assessment.

If you think the banknote is badly damaged, for example, you are not sure that your banknotes are less than two-thirds (2/3) of the size of the original banknotes or the writings on the banknote is not clear, than you better not receive such money.

Hopefully more traders be more diligent to read and study that not all the torn notes are worthless.
