One of the benefits of journal writing is capturing your memories. Most of the time I journal to express emotions and work through challenging situations. But alot of people journal to record memories of events.
Today I had a wonderful day spent with family cooking a family recipe for each other. It was interesting to learn about the history and the ingredients I couldn't remember my mom using. There was some distinct differences with the memories of my sister vs. myself surrounding this special dish. It was exciting to hear the alternative views and feelings this family recipe invoked and to hear the feedback from the next generation as well.
I've never used my journal for capturing memories of the day and it got me thinking that I should expand my journal writing to include an account of the daily activity in descriptive detail.
Do you journal with an account of the day's events?
