One of Gentoo's primary advantages is the customization abilities that Portage, the package manager for Gentoo, gives the user. Using Portage, we can even compile programs to have default functionality that is disabled in basically all binary distributions! A great example of this is the ability to copy and paste text to and from vim and other programs. Most binary releases of Vim have this functionality disabled by default, but thanks to Portage, we can enable it for Vim on Gentoo with a single USE flag! This video demonstrates that process. Check it out!
