Hey! Since my last turtle-related post did quite well, I figured I would make a post concerning another cool turtle I found on the side of the road earlier this summer. Check it out!
This is a softshell turtle. Specifically, this is (I believe) what is called a spiny softshell turtle.
It was very cool! And big! I had never actually caught one of these kinds of turtles before, though I had seen pictures. The underside of the turtle reminded me of an alligator (I tried to get a picture of the underside, but the turtle didn't want to cooperate). The turtle's shell felt like wet leather to the touch, and was extremely smooth.
Of course, the turtle's nose was what stood out to me the most. Here's another closeup:

It was neat being able to interact with this unusual creature. I released him behind my house in the water in the woods. So long, turtle friend!
