Greetings
This fellow had been absent from our street for some time, but it seems that s/he is back. Or, is s/he? I don't really know if it is the same bird I posted about some time ago. I'd like to think it is. I spotted it some days ago in the street behind ours and was generous enough to allow me to take some pictures.
Of course, these birds are not that friendly. They allow only so much proximity.
Maybe with a better camera I can get some closer shots, but in the meantime we'll have to settle for this.
You may wonder what is a heron doing downtown Cumaná. Well, s/he can find more food in any of our streets' gutters than in her natural habitat, which is now poluted enough as to make it really hard for them to live as they used to.

I guess it is a good thing for the fish to have body of water where to transit through, but for us humans the fact that this body of water, which seems to have come to stay, is sewage water is not that good. Hopefully one day people will say enough and force a transformation that can return normality to our streets and to these birds habitats.
Who knows, maybe one day the herons will come visit us not just for the fish.
