My guess is that it was even worse before because there was no way (or it was way too difficult) for an average person to confirm news from distant places; the thing is that now, with the overwhelming amount of information available, and the intentionality of fabricated news for all kinds of purposes, it is easier to award this "era" the title (besides, it rhymes neatly with Cabrera). 😂
Social media offers people the possibility of confirming, clarifying, and even producing news.
I started using Twitter just to promote #hive, but then started to do a lot of reporting and found myself confronting official sites or users who posted the beauty of the government's work. "Trash collection has been improved", "tourism is on the rise"; really? Not from my part of town, and there I was throwing nasty images I get every day everywhere I go. That itself was overwhelming and I had to stop.
On top of that, one gets the bits and spies who may at some point ruin your life and/or that of your family.
That's Twitter now for Venezuela.
