Happy and blessed Sunday to all my fellow Hivers! I am grateful to share a new post here for the 135th weekly #phonephotography contest, sponsored by our friend untilwelearn@untilwelearn. The main requirement for the entries is that the photographs must be taken with a mobile phone—in this case, my own. After a few weeks of being unable to participate, it is a real pleasure to join in again, especially featuring a place with such a rich history: the island of Cubagua.

I took these photos one afternoon after we finished our workday. Some supplies had been brought to us—both food and cleaning items for the camp where we are staying. To deliver all these materials, those in charge traveled by kayak; it’s a long distance to cover on foot, and the extra weight would have been too exhausting, which is why they chose this method of transport. As you can see, the kayaks aren’t very large, but they served their purpose well. The team headed back before nightfall, as it becomes quite dangerous at that hour due to strong gusts of wind.

It is truly incredible to discover an island with as much history as Cubagua—an island I will tell you more about in future posts, perhaps later this week.
