Hello Steemit.
I am extremely passionate about cryptocurrency. It's the last thing I think of when I go to sleep and the first thing I think of when I wake up. My significant other does not agree and she would hate that last sentence with a passion that would almost exceed mine for crypto. That aside, being that I want her and others to enjoy the same successes I and now many others have seen from this revolution, I wanted to discuss the idea of being late to the party.
In my first post I mentioned how I could have and should been involved in this boom nearly 7 years ago and how I wish that I had been. When talking about how the price of Bitcoin went from X to Y in the last Z years with people with little to no knowledge of the technology and the genuine application of the product for some their eyes glaze over, they lose interest and pull from their throat the usual "It's a bubble" and "It'll crash" spiel. These people will be the losers of the game one day. However, those with genuine interest, whose eyes do not glaze over but light up, it is in many of these people that I see past the wide eyed interest their brain ticking away and the thought enter their head, "I'm late to the party".
The real question is not whether they are right or wrong, I believe this question has been answered already (PS. they're wrong). The real question is what impact does this thought and my provocation of it via my wild figures of multiple gains that they have indeed missed out on have to the true aim of mass adoption? And if it is negative, what steps can we take to readjust our attempts on bringing them over to blockchain and cryptocurrency adoption?
I pose an experiment.
Pick a coin. Make it a coin you trust and believe in yourself. Tell your friend about this coin. This coin cannot be Bitcoin. Then, wager them a bet.
The bet is simple. If it goes up after 2 weeks, you will transfer them X% of the profit to their wallet (what wallet you say? This comes later). And if it goes down, they lose nothing. The amount you wish to wager is your choice, but this is why it is important that it is a coin in which you trust and which you yourself are knowledgeable on, as the higher the returns the more they will be amazed.
The outcome of this ideally is as follows. The bet is made, the person is interested as they lose nothing, but they could gain. They go on coinmarketcap, they research the coin, they research more coins, then the technology and then the market. But the coin they are most interested in is the one you can tell them about. They may even come back to you to ask more about it and again we see the lit up eyes, the ones I would see on myself. If the price rises at the end of the two weeks, they will need somewhere to store this value, but they have never set up a wallet before, or best case scenario they've already set one up by the end, genuinely invested.
See being late to the party when you're not invited and there's no-one there you know is one thing, but when a friend who you trust invites you and they tell you they're bringing free money, well, the rest is simple. The party never stops in crypto, it just gets better. Invite a friend.
If you have any other suggestions as to what we the people can do to further mass adoption or even if you think this idea is terrible, please comment below as I love hearing from this community.
Mass adoption is on the horizon.
