2nd Update of 2022 on HivePizza Development Work
This post gives some visibility into development work done by the HivePizza team. There is often a lot happening behind the scenes that's not readily visible to most of our community. In these posts, we’ll also cover some in-progress research that has not yet manifested in new features or products.
In the past two-ish months we continued building up our community Discord bot capabilities. We’ve also dived into the SpkClaimChain (SPKCC) network and tested HAS/HiveAuth.
Discord Bot Slash Commands
Pizzabot is a helpful Discord bot for fetching data about Hive, Hive-Engine, and various Hive-powered games. Currently, the bot is proudly serving 28 unique Discord guilds. If you would like to invite the bot to your Discord, simply find the bot’s profile in any server, and click the invite button. The bot's home base is https://discord.gg/HivePizza.
Our previous dev post in January mentioned we had started looking into Discord Application Commands (aka Slash Commands) to replace the clunky !COMMAND text command format.
All of Pizzabot's chat commands have been converted to Slash commands. For now, both formats are still supported. But I highly recommend the slash commands, for a better, more intuitive experience.
Instead of having to skim through a wall of help text to figure out how to invoke the bot, Discord provides a catalog of commands as soon as you type '/'. Like this:
New Pizzabot Discord Bot Commands
For community-building reasons, we spend a lot of time in Discord. Since our last post in January, several new commands have been added to Pizzabot. Here's a list of those new commands and screenshots showing examples of the response.
/hkplayer - fetches data about players of the HashKings game.
Example response:
/rc - fetches data about a Hive account’s resource credits status.

/search - calls into HiveSearcher to search for content on Hive, and returns the first 10 results. Search results can be filtered by "relevance" or "newest".

/status - checks status of various Hive.Pizza services and nodes

/spkccnodes - returns a summary of Spk claim chain network nodes in consensus.

Improvements to Splinterlands Guild Chatbot Commands
The PizzaBot Discord bot also has five different commands for our Splinterlands guilds. The output of these commands was recently revamped. Here's a list of those 5 commands and a summary of what they do.
/sl guild status - responds with a status of all Pizza guilds (1-3) and total guild member count.
Example response:
/sl guild teamwork - responds with a summary of DEC donations and intra-guild card delegations.
/sl guild power - responds with a report on guild members who are Collection Power capped, but have a high enough rating to advance to a higher league.
/sl brawl timer - responds with timers for each Pizza guild and the time remaining until the next brawl combat starts, or time remaining until combat ends.
/sl brawl status - responds with a summary of the current brawl standings for all three Pizza guilds. Inclber ofuding ranking and the num battles remaining.
SPKCC Node and SpkCC Monitor Tool
Since the launch of Spk Claim Chain software on 1/31/2022, we have been running a node and helping test. We previously created a tool for monitoring the DLUX side-chain network, called DLUXMonitor. DLUXMonitor was cloned and upgraded.
The new SPKCCMonitor tool is useful for keeping an eye on the SpkCC network. The top of the page shows some high-level network information. Below is a list of all the SPKCC nodes and their status.

Like mentioned above, the PizzaBot Discord bot also has a new /spkccnodes command where the bot responds with a summary of SPKCC consensus nodes.
Twitch Integration with Hive.Pizza Discord
We added some simple integration to help keep track of community members who check in during Twitch streams. Some of the streamers in our community like to distribute Pizza tokens to folks who engage in Twitch chat. This is one aspect of Pizza Guild's “Engage2Earn”. Before, the channel owners were tediously reviewing chat logs to count check-ins. Now, check-ins are conveniently logged in Discord.
Research In Progress - HiveAuth Integration
We had the pleasure of testing out beta builds of the Hive Keychain mobile app and PeakD. This gave us an understanding of user flows for authenticating via HiveAuth (formerly known as HiveAuthenticationServices). Our idea here was to integrate Pizzabot with HiveAuth. The integration would allow the bot to make Hive blockchain transactions from Discord.
For example, I ask the bot to transfer 1 Hive. The bot enters an embedded chat flow to gather the needed details including sender wallet name and receiver wallet name. Then a QR code would be presented to the user. After the QR code is scanned with the Hive Keychain mobile app, and the user approves the transaction, the transfer would be sent, and the chatbot flow would conclude.
Even better, if the user is doing this from the Discord mobile app, the bot offers a deep link as an alternative to QR code, enabling the user to quickly switch to the Hive Keychain mobile app to approve the transaction.
Research in Progress - NFTShowroom Integration
We also took a look at APIs offered by NFTShowroom. The idea here is to build in some benefits to our other apps and services tied to ownership of Hive.Pizza NFTs. The team has previously minted and airdropped NFTs on NFTShowroom, and there may be more coming in the future.
