Ok we are getting closer to our movie night and preparations are ongoing, mobilization and publicity not left out.
So asides just watching movie, we also planned on intense worship session which the rehearsal was slated for today, this evening.
We gathered and it was an awesome experience. We had different ministration from different minstrels and tip of the iceberg was our unity song "Break every chain" by Tasha Cobbs. The song was being ministered by four people and it was a great one.
We also did a chant song and in between the sessions of the chanting scriptures were being shared by one of our brothers.
Asides singing, it is going to be a full cinema experience as the hall would be filled up to the brim.
Our popcorns and drinks not left out as well.
I was able to freeze this few moments while the singers were rehearsing to take these amazing shots.
In all of that, let me gist you guys what happened and the challenges so far in the music session:
I was in church since two (2pm) , I had to take care of somethings as regards the event before the rehearsal would start.
I had lost hope that the rehearsal would hold when no one came around, the rehearsal was scheduled for 4pm but there was no one in church.
Later one person arrived, I had a company. We waited and waited and waited and then finally others started to come and we began the rehearsal immediately.
Even though some people were late, we managed to do the rehearsal properly and finish on time as well, everyone cooperated and it was a success.
Why am I pointing out this part of the rehearsal?
Lateness, it is so common in our music team. This often results to reducing the number of songs we were meant to rehearse. The rehearsal seemed to be in a rush because it was getting late already. It was 8pm, we could achieve only a song out of the three (3) songs we planned singing.
Also, there was another thing I observed during the rehearsal.
During the rehearsal, we sat in sections. The treble, alto, tenor and bass sat in their respective places. When we began to rehearse songs, the treble singers had to outshine every other singer, which was very wrong. Though I understand that the key we used in singing the song made the tenor and bass singers' voices to be very low and deep. So to create a balance, our music director had to pitch the song.
When he had done that, the treble singers had to reduce their voice, the tenor and bass singers had to increase theirs so as to create a balance.
As a musician or song minister, don't joke with your rehearsal. Try to be early so that you could achieve everything you've planned for that day. Coming early shows a level of commitment in what you are into.
One other thing I learnt is never outshine when singing. It will turn out to be a noise.
However, the rehearsal, I must say it ended successfully. We ended by 7.30pm so that those who live in far distances won't get home late.
Planning is still ongoing 😊.
