Thanks! For me, the most exciting part is getting to the point where the world genuinely remembers what players have done rather than just feeling like a game world that resets around you.
We're already starting to see pieces of that with persistent characters, knowledge, experimentation, resource depletion, exact player locations, possessions, etc., but I want to push it much further.
Eventually, if players discover a useful resource somewhere, build a road or settlement around it, start producing goods there, trade those goods to another settlement, and other players begin using that route, all of that should become part of the actual history and economy of the world. Resources shouldn't magically exist because a shop needs inventory, and knowledge shouldn't automatically exist because a player reached level 10. Someone has to discover things, make things, move things, teach things, trade things, and build things.
I'm especially excited about seeing the first player-created settlements and economies emerge from those systems. I want to reach a point where I can look at an area of the map and say, "None of that was scripted. Players caused that to happen."
That's really the persistent world I'm trying to build.
