Very wise words sir. I think the biggest thing in this is staying consistent and ENGAGING! What pisses me off to no end is that people whine about not earning this and that on their posts, but show NO engagement in comments or even taking the time to comment on others, yet you go see their Twitter feed and they won’t shut up, lol!
Personal brands are all about building reputation across the community. It’s not all about what a person puts in a post, but how the community receives the post. Just look at @cryptowendyo for example. I was excited that someone with a big personal brand was coming and posting to Hive, but then quickly lost respect when I saw ZERO engagement from her. She only uses it as a post through to earn some crypto. She doesn’t care about the community here, only her Twitter and YouTube followers, so that can actually ruin a brand if you are not careful. I guess we aren’t paying her to shill the community so it’s not worth it to her. So in small communities like this, you have to make engagement part of your brand. Be a real person not a fake influencer.
The most valuable form of engagement on Hive is a follow, then comments, then voting… IMO… people are too caught up on getting upvotes for rewards that they don’t even try to think about building a following through engagement. A person that follows you will upvote your content many times over, but that follower will not come unless you engage with them, which sometimes starts with a vote, but votes aren’t everything. Especially when they are hollow auto votes. Sure the rewards are okay, but what is that worth if you don’t have real engagement with comments and trying to build your followers!
