A hospital in Caracas was selected, visited, and consulted regarding its needs and priorities. A doctor kindly emphasized the need to provide antibiotics to children hospitalized with multiple injuries resulting from the tragic natural disaster affecting the population. Their families are unable to cover the costs of the long and expensive treatments; just one patient requires at least two doses per day (depending on the severity of the case).
Today, Saturday, June 27, there are 12 children in the pediatric emergency room at Dr. José María Vargas Hospital who require exactly this medication. (Corner of Monte Carmelo and Providencia, San José de Cotiza sector, Libertador municipality, Caracas).
The person in the photo who received the donation is a volunteer in logistics and donation reception. She explained that the donation of twelve 1-gram vials of vancomycin ensures one more night’s supply of medication for all the children currently hospitalized. It may seem like a small amount, but it adds up in a nation facing a state of emergency that requires attention to what is important and urgent.
