It is likely related to the bot running it. Third parties really can’t interfere with this as it is done at the blockchain level and not app. I don’t know who runs it but they may have made a change.

You can bid as often as you like, there is no advantage to bidding while you are the current last bidder. It is expected some people will bid once and if they don't win, oh well, and some will be more
