Thinking about you, Roy Batty, what you said just before you died… something about having experienced and seen lot of shit – stuff that we just couldn’t believe. Your final musing was ‘what happens to all of the experiences registered in that which was your self?’ – the self now ending, leaving no information in a useable format – the thoughts you’d stored lost, “like tears in rain”

Well, thanks for the food for thought, Roy. I too have lived an amazing life and experienced things you could not believe. In a way, everyone has. Each person its own universe. But back to the concept. What are tears in rain? Human tears are a one of a kind mixture of water, salt and other materials generated by the organism. They serve the eye, and they express emotion. When pumping out of the eyes during an emotional state in the rain, the tears join the water. The special formula is immediately deconstructed into the basic compounds and elements that were so impossibly gathered, synthesized and expressed.

The person, with her bundle of stored sensations, thoughts, ideals and impulses, is just that. When life ends… no, when the ability to think ends – those stored up memories and mechanisms that interpret stimuli cease to function – the person is no more. It is just the body decomposing. What’s missing from this thread is the thoughts and memories that you alluded to, Roy. What happens to them?

You register perception all along the ribbon of life - it goes into an ether that we cannot yet discern. Something out there is eating our thoughts and emotions as we generate them. Maybe they store them in their pantries and make soup out of them. Our emotional outcomes are going somewhere, and they follow another set of rules. They are processed and generate what? Your guess is as good as mine.

Roy, you needn’t have felt such chagrin at the loss of your stored experiences because you very well could have been wrong. Your body was as tears in rain, but your perceptions were mined as something precious and useful in a state beyond Newtonian and quantum physics, beyond matter and energy – the state of source.
