The MOON team has been learning continuously since the game's launch. We've been taking the time to carefully consider the details of how End-of-Season Rewards should be distributed. As a few player approaches the game-winning event (Gravitron research), we would like to announce these details now so that players have time to adjust their strategies, if necessary.
Firstly, we want to assure everyone once again that Universe 1 of the game will not "end". It will continue to play and operate exactly as before.
To confirm previous statements, 50% of all deposits will be allocated to the End-of-Season Reward Pool, which will be distributed upon reaching the win condition. It's already a lot of $PIZZA!

The other 50% of deposits aim to offset development and server costs, as well as other incidentals, including game promotion. Our medium- and long-term goal is to onboard new gamers to the Hive ecosystem and, over time, convert them into loyal Hivers.
Rewards act as a feedback mechanism. The primary goal is to make the players feel part of the process and reinforce that they did not waste their time by playing.
Of course, you can do what you please with your earned tokens; they are yours! Consider staking some tokens to gain rank in the Pizza Guild, spending them in-game, or even saving some tokens to "spend" in Season 2 towards Officers and temporary buffs.
We hope you have enjoyed playing in Season 1 and look forward to seeing you in Season 2. And if you do stick around, you probably want some Pizzabits to spend and boost those numbers.
There are also various perks for staking PIZZA tokens, including on-chain tips and community ranking. And we're discussing new features that incorporate token staking into the game. Staking is not permanent, and you can later choose to unstake any tokens at any time.
The intent is to reward as many different playstyles as possible—offensive, defensive, research-focused, mining-focused, and so on.
The total end-of-season rewards pool will be distributed in the following way:
By design, many players who contributed to the rewards pool will receive rewards; however, all players of the game, including Free2Play players, have and will be able to achieve rewards. One player can be rewarded in multiple categories.
Rewards for that record (i.e., most Missile Launchers) will be split among all players who hold that record. The website only shows up to 3. We will use backend data to determine which players hold each record, and the list may not match the three shown on the website Records page.
We have chosen a reverse-rank, linear distribution method for the top 100 in each of these lists. The sum of the ranks creates 5050 "buckets"; first place will receive 100 buckets, while 100th place will receive one bucket.
To calculate the distribution, we'll attempt to capture a snapshot of the game state as close to the game-winning trigger as possible. The season ends when the first player unlocks technology called Graviton Research 1.
That's all there is to it! If you haven't logged in for a while, check your planet; it might be full of resources!
Our on-chain rewardification will remain in effect on @moon.records; certain notifications are already generating beneficiary comments, including those in the Hall of Fame. You can reward both the attacker and defender by upvoting the comment. This functionality is still in live testing and will remain live until further notice.
In conclusion, stay safe out there, Emperors, protect your fleets, and as always - have FUN!
