Todos tenemos un montón de retazos de tela, pedacitos que vamos guardando y que luego se nos olvida o no sabemos qué hacer con ellos. La técnica del Patchwork nos ayuda a unir esos trozos de tela mediante la costura, bien sea a mano o a maquina de coser, otros optan por pegarla con pegamentos especiales, pero lo más recomendado es coserlos para que tengan mayor durabilidad.
Con esta técnica podemos crear muchas cosas lindas, desde manteles, cubrecamas, sábanas, cortinas, cojines, alfombras, otros más creativos crean carteras, prendas de vestir, cartucheras y se ha podido ver artes hechos con retazos de tela, representando muñecos, diseños, paisajes, entre otros.
Cosemos cada parche que recortamos, dependiendo lo que haremos, recortaremos en formas geométricas de igual tamaño que faciliten nuestra costura, mientras más diversos sean los colores y motivos de las telas, así como el hilo a emplear, más hermosos y divertidos quedarán.
Se puede hacer con cualquier tipo de tela, aunque para ciertos usos se recomienda el algodón pues son más fáciles de aplicar relleno, sin embargo, hay quienes hay trabajado con telas de pantalón de mezclilla, sedas, entre otros.

We all have a lot of scraps of fabric, little pieces that we keep and then we forget or do not know what to do with them.
