I don't mean to offend anyone and everyone is entitled to their own opinions. Each user is allowed to do whatever they want with their stake etc. I know all of that. I've been here since the beginning.
I just wanted to ask you something, Rolland. I have read a lot of things recently about your self-voting and I watched your video as well. Some of the things I want talk about is actually because of the things you said in your video.
Help more people in a more meaningful way.
You self-vote because you want to help people in a more meaningful way. I might be completely wrong, but I take that as you help people outside of Hive/LeoFinance.
That leads me to a question:
What is a more meaningful way than helping others directly on the blockchain, more specifically on LeoFinance?
I upvote roughly 75 people.
You are a whale and you could easily change some peoples lives with your upvotes at these prices. You upvote roughly 75 different people, but you upvote them at 2%. That is not life-changing by any means. Regardless of where you live at these prices.
However, I do appreciate the fact that you are curating and spreading tokens across the community. I'm not a huge fan of the 2% though, and that also means that you aren't even close to use your full voting power each day, which makes things even more weird if your goal is to help others. You would help more people, or the ones you help a lot more and/or faster if you used more voting power.
I have given away thousands of dollars.
I haven't looked at it personally, but I read somewhere that your vote is/was worth ~25 LEO. By self-voting at 100% you keep 100% of that amount. That's 25 LEO in your pocket from each self-vote. You are a very active content creator, (until recently?) with multiple posts per day. Often 4 posts per day.
That equates to 100 LEO per day, 700 LEO per week or 2800 LEO per month. At the price of $1/LEO, that's $2800 per month which is almost the same amount of money I earn from my full time job, and I live in Sweden.
You could easily change dozens of lives with that amount. Dozens of Hivers or Lions could afford medicine, groceries, rent or whatever with just a fraction of that amount..
I think you meant well and you have the heart in the right place, but I think your actions and your logic regarding this thing is a bit weird and skewed. You are in a great position to change people's lives and I would love to hear your idea and approach.
