Apex Legends is probably the hottest game out there right now, having 25 million players in its first week it's definitely a success by most measures, but that doesn't mean it's without problems. In fact, there are several thousands of reports from players regarding random bugs, input lag and other errors. Different types of memory crashes is probably one of the biggest issues, but there are many more issues with the game.

Even though there are thousands of reports regarding these type of issues, I will talk about something entirely different. I will talk about the actual hitboxes.

Before we dive into that, I will briefly explain what a hitbox is:

  • A hitbox is an invisible box-like area that when penetrated, counts as a "hit". It's different than the model (the visible character and his colors that you see). The hitbox is meant to compensate for lag and movement. When a character is moving, his hitbox is usually farther from the model. When a character is still, his hitbox is located directly on top of his model.

Here is an example:

That being said, a hitbox is several boxes "inside" the character you see. Whenever you hit a target, you hit one of the boxes. In Apex Legends, we have several legends (characters) to choose from and one would think that all of them would have identical hitboxes as different hitboxes for different legends would affect the overall gameplay.

The truth is that Apex Legends have some major hitbox issues that many of the players aren't aware of. The famous grappling legend, Pathfinder for instance, is a bad choice of a legend as you can hit a Pathfinder legend even when you're supposed to miss.

To explain this further I will give you a link to a video:

This basically means that players should avoid characters like Gibraltar or Pathfinder until there's a solution, or play these legends as they tend to have their own advantages (such as Gibraltar's shielding or/or Pathfinder's grapple).

Also, a community manager from Respawn said that they are aware of this, but that they can't say anything more for now.
