Here in Japan the ladies give men chocolate. I had a private class tonight, teaching an optician. His staff are all female and so he got a lot of choco gifts today. Actually, it's called "giri choco" - "duty chocolate"! The Japanese chocolate companies then invented a day in March which they call "White Day." On that day the men have to repay the compliment by giving the ladies chocolate - but, they can't recycle the gifts they got... they have to give WHITE chocolate. Very clever marketing by the chocolate companies.

Nowadays schoolgirls make chocolate snacks for their friends - that's "tomo choco" - pal chocolate!
