I cracked open the last Kirin Ichiban Shibori of the evening and played a couple of 3-minute Blitz games against the HiveSuite "Master" Chess bot - a bot that loves to deploy an army of "Baaaanzaiiii" shrieking, suicidal-charging pieces.
Ah, it reminds me of the good old days before the Internet when I used to read tons of "War Picture Library" and "Commando" and all sorts of other war comics. The ones set in the Pacific theatre always featured Japanese soldiers with buck teeth who would cry "Aaaaaiiiiigggghhh" when shot by a manly Brit or maybe even an Aussie with his cool bush hat. German soldiers never cried "Aaaaaiiiigggghhh" when they ate lead. Only the Japanese.
But I digress.
Everything was going spiffingly well in the first of the two games I played, until I missed an easy checkmate. It didn't seem to matter because thanks to my opponent's suicide tactics, I had built up a formidable material advantage... but time was not on my side and the clock hit zero before I'd got around to winning the game.
TIME 1 vs 0 PLAYER
Things went a lot better in the second game. After whipping out my two central pawns, I developed the wrong knight, leaving one of my pawns unprotected. The Master Bot noticed and took it with his knight. But then the bot turned suicidal and exchanged his knights for two pawns. Crazy!
After that I indulged in a Rook sacrifice (just as I had done in the first game), which pulled the King into the centre for my Rooks and Queen to administer the last rites.
BEER 1 vs 0 BOT
Cheers!
