I had my Indian cooking class on 8th May at Porsgrunn the town 35 kilometers from our place. a group of Norwegian friends wanted to learn Indian cooking. if I am invited to some other place than my own kitchen I need to inspect the kitchen before. we were driving to that place on 7 th may Saturday, after meeting people. we had some time. so we took a small tour to the next town called skien 12 kilometers from Porsgrunn.

This river we will see when we will on the highest point of the hill in the center of town from the ruins at kapitelberget.
Here is the information board in Norwegian. it explains the Cultural and Natural heritage of this place after the Viking age. This Crypt church was built in12 century and is 1 of only 4 built-in Norway.
Kapitelberget is situated in the center of the highest point of Skien, surrounded by residential houses a children's playground, and a kindergarten.

oddly the rock hill on which the church was built is full of fossils from an ancient coral reef. the waters of norway are far too cold to support any coral but it is believed that millions of years ago norway was part of a continent below the equator. at some point the earth poles shifted resulting in norway being located in the far north.
we tried to get good photos of some fossils but most of the rock is covered in grass and other vegetation and the fossils in visible rock are mostly very small
after zooming in we can see some coral fossils.

Then the day after on Sunday, I was busy with my Indian cooking course and we all enjoyed the food.
