Hello, friends, bird lovers and community greetings ! In the end of summer we were in Oslo. Had god time so visiting the Akershus Fastening /fortress. The complex has big open grass. Easily find them gathered on lawns. The open ground is on the west side close to Oslofjord. It is migratory stopover and a breeding ground for them. in spring as well as in late summer.

Medium-sized the upperparts feature silvery-gray and white barring

geese , foraging and grazing on the grass at Akershus Fastening /Akershus fortress Oslo. The big open ground

They head south in late August or early September, stopped here for while before flying to UK.

While searching the particular name of these geese i read the myth of this bird.

The barnacle goose myth is a medieval European belief that the barnacle goose (Branta leucopsis) did not hatch from bird eggs,

but instead grew from goose barnacles—crustaceans that clung to driftwood and rotting ship timber in the ocean. what is the truth about it?

As well some sparrows also enjoying their day at Akershus fastening open area.

Thank you very much!
