It looks like a normal hole in the ground, but it's actually a former tree. Years ago, the lava engulfed the tree and formed a mold of the tree trunk. What's left is a large hole in the ground.
If you bring the keikis, keep an eye on them. Most of the big holes are fenced, but a hole in the ground is pretty tempting.
