Beloved, please feel welcome to this week edition of our Sunday sermon series. I want to believe that God has been faithful to His words in our lives. Today we are looking at the topic: The Cost of Favour.

In the kingdom of God, nothing goes for nothing.

For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that who ever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life

John 3:16

The above bible passage is a summary of the cost of our salvation. The salvation and grace that we as believers now enjoy was at the cost of God's only son.

For we are bought with a price....(1 Corinthians 7:20)

Our Lord Jesus laid down His life and paid the price for our salvation. Do you desire favour with God? Then you must be ready to pay the price. You must be ready to burn down those bridges. You must be ready to let go of all those attachments and strings giving you unholy company and pleasures. Favour with the almighty God is at a cost.

Cost of Favour:

1) Holiness

If you desire favour with God, if you desire gladness and joy from God, you must be holy. For God is a holy God and whoever that seek him must do it with a clean heart and mind for God love righteousness.

You love righteousness and hate wickedness; Therefore God, your God, has set you above your companions by anointing you with the oil of joy.

Psalm 45:7

Holiness makes it easy and put you in line for favour with God when you live a holy life. Shun every form of immorality and
balefulness.

2) Obedience

To truly enjoy a long lasting favour with God, one important thing that you must do is to remain in obedience with the precepts and laws of God. Obedience to His words give knowledge to guide you and prosper you.

If they obey and serve Him, they will spend the rest of their days in prosperity and their years in contentment.

Job 36:11

To be in favour with God, you need to know how to obey God without factoring human excuses or reasoning.

3) Faith

Another cost of favour that we should be ready to pay is to have that unshaken and firm believe in God ability and power. You should be ready to take that risk of faith. For without faith it is impossible to please God.

And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek him.

Hebrew 11:6

To receive the blessings of God, you must be ready to attempt great things like the people of the old (Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, Moses, to name but a few.)

4) Diligence

We must remind ourselves that the men of old that found favour in God's sight were not idle men. They were men and women of diligence. They were hard working. You desire favour with God, you must find something honourable and godly for your hands to do.

Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might; for in the grave, where you are going, there is neither working nor planning nor knowledge nor wisdom.

It is not enough to expect blessings upon blessings from God without engaging with something meaningful with your hands.

In conclusion, God has made the redeemed soul a candidate for favour and greatness. However, the child of God most position himself to receive attention and blessing as favour from God.

Let holiness be your watchword, obey without complain, have faith that works and be diligent at what your hands find doing.

PRAYER

  1. O Lord, please put upon me the crown of favour.
  2. Lord, leet the next step of faith that I will take land me into my breakthrough in Jesus name... (AMEN!)
Till we meet again next Sunday, remain blessed and in God's favour.
