Jesus' Ascension and the Great Commission

MARK 16:15-20

15 He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.
16Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.
17 And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues;
18 they will pick up snakeswith their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well.”
19 After the Lord Jesus had spoken to them, he was taken up into heaven and he sat at the right hand of God.
20 Then the disciples went out and preached everywhere, and the Lord worked with them and confirmed his word by the signs that accompanied it.

Beloved, it is important we remember the great task that was given to the eleven disciples to go and make disciples of all nations just as much as we remember the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. It is in doing this that we actually acknowledge the importance in the gift of the Son that the Father has given to mankind. It is God's desire that all men should believe in Christ, and repent of their evil sinful ways.

The only way through which we can show the love of Christ in us is by going out of our comfort zone to share the word of life with others who may have heard but not convinced or those who are totally ignorant of the word. Let the world know that all authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Jesus.

Your great commission starts with that brother or sister that is next to you. Don't wait till you travel away from your neighbourhood before you take up the task. Don't emphasize on your church and church founder or leaders to new coverts but rather emphasize on Jesus.

I pray that as you yield to this great call of spreading the gospel of Christ, may the Lord work with you and confirm his word with signs... (AMEN!)

The 'Hope Beckons' series started last year as a way to motivate as many as possible through the Holy Scripture(Bible) with prayers to accompany each series. Hope Beckons series aim at giving hope to everyone out there. It is the needed capsule to inspire us to greatness by standing on the promises of God.
