'Out to Sea', is one of my favorite modes of contemplation, but anywhere immersed in nature will do.
Our bodies (including our brains) are designd to be outdoors. {she says from behind her laptop} For stability within an ever-accelerating flow of light and life, we require nature, whose sole request for earnings is that she be honored and reverenced.
Find a bit of time in nature ~ and see what comes to mind... literally, and not soon enough!
Today the winds have captured my attention. They whip the fields into luxurious waves of gold and green, whirl mini-cyclones of the last bastions of the dropping-leaf community from their tenuous grasp of twig and branch onto the fields below. There, they are lifted once again. Sometimes blown horizontally, and for distances farther than the eye can see. Sometimes spiraling upwards once more, for the briefest of moments ahead of the advancing showers.
There is always something to notice. Contemplation begins with a single moment, a thought, an idea, a feeling of wonder. There are worlds within each falling drop of rain, each lifted leaf, each gust, each breath.
When we need a reset or don't know what to do, it helps to wander. Wander leads to wonder. From there, all paths lead home.
