When I started the game Subnautica, I didn't know what exactly I was playing lol. 100 hours later, it has become that one game that I keep coming back to despite finishing the story.
This is a survival game where you crashed in a planet and you have to find ways to find food, shelter, and discover the lore so you can also go back home. I usually don't play survival games since I feel like they take a long time to finish, but this has been a smooth game once I learned how to do things.
As you salvage items, you can start building a base so you can do more stuff more efficiently like charging your vehicle, having a water distillation system, store your items, etc. It depends entirely on what you want to build and you can absolutely design your base for fun or for convenience.
In my case, I built a large room dedicated to all things food just so I can conveniently grab food and water there fast (without having to catch fish outside).
I really enjoy organizing my resources in this game by building lockers. That's also when I thought hey why not make a nice room there as well for food and stuff and so I did during off stream days.
I first built a large room and then started adding windows, planters and pots, and then added benches and tables as well for decoration.
Here, you can see pots with plants on them. The ones in the middle are decorative and the trees to the left and right are sources of food and water as well. I just wanted to make this like a cozy room so I can think of this as my safe haven in a scary planet.
In the corner are the coffee and vending machines that I can also interact with and use them to consume food. It's a very nice thing to have in a game as well cos it makes you feel like you really have a base you can call home (despite them not really important cos you can take food and water from other things).
I added the windows to this area and thought to plant some outside so there will be a nice view. I also had the genius idea of adding the creepvines (those long green plants on the left) because they give off light and so it adds a nice warm light for the outside and also inside my base.
Those warm lights you can see there are from the creepvines I planted outside. I think it may have been quite a bug but it seeps through nicely anyway. ;D
I also added a photo that I took in the game as well and named it "The Birth of Weenus" lol. That was a creature in one of the places here and it had like a glitch so its head is visible from the outside.
I also have a water filtration machine which automatically takes seawater and gives me water bottles that I can drink. The game is quite realistic as well so we need to drink many times a day so water is very important.
On the left and right are lockers where I store seeds and water.
Here is the mess hall from the outside with plants that I planted. I got the seeds from various areas in the map.
It's kinda crazy how bright those things are lol. There were only 3 light options in the game that you could make that's why me being able to think about this was nice. XD
Those plants were also mostly from the deep areas of the game and I chose them specifically cos they glow nicely. :3
Here is also a short video of the mess hall:
And yeah that is my mess hall so far.
I do plan on building more stuff for my base although there isn't really a lot of stuff to build. It depends on how creative you are I guess. XD
But yeah, I have a bedroom and locker rooms as well that I built. Would you like to see them next time? :D
Did you build your base decoratively or are you like the effecient-type gamer?
