Thought I would practice editing video and share some log splitting we did a few days ago. We are using a 1959 Lickity-Log-Splitter, manufactured by the WACO Aircraft Co. I got it from my father after he retired from the wood cutting work. This thing has gone through some pretty major overhauls throughout the years. My father rebuilt the ram head, i installed a new engine on it about 12 years ago, and most recently I installed new retraction springs and cable.
My father purchased the splitter from Old Man Pappy Fisher after he closed down his local sawmill. They used this splitter for the firewood they needed to fire the steam boiler that operated the entire mill. Rumor is he bought the splitter new back in 1959. Pretty amazing a piece of equipment can last so long, they don't make-um like they used to.
