Occasionally, I enjoy visiting new places and crossing off items on my yearly bucket list. Recently, I had the chance to explore the charming town of Asturias, located in the northwestern part of Cebu City, Philippines. While on an adventure with friends, we stumbled upon Asturias while en route to Tuburan. Intrigued by the town's quaint charm, we made a pit stop to explore its center. Asturias is a town made up of 27 barangays in total. I will take you through today as I explore on their Naghalin Park which is found in Asturias town proper.
The Philippines' Department of Tourism has a trademark that encourages people to love the town they're in. This is evident in Asturias, where you'll see tarpaulins with the message ”Love the Philippines, Love Asturias. It's one of the Department's trademarks.
We passed by here early in the morning, so the place is not yet crowded, which is perfect for walking around and exploring their Town Center. I went to Naghalin Park, located in the Town Center of Asturias, and this is what it looks like inside.
NAGHALIN PARK - Asturias, Cebu City, Philippines
The Asturias Municipal Hall is situated right at the heart of the Town Center, making it very convenient for the locals. It is nicely positioned alongside the church and the covered court, all of which are easily accessible to the people. If you would like to see more of the place, I would be happy to guide you through the municipal hall, church, and covered court.
The white building situated in the center is the municipal hall of the Town of Asturias. A plethora of cars can be seen parked outside of it. The hall is situated inside their park, which has an abundance of trees and flowering plants, making it an idyllic spot. The hall is still decorated with Christmas adornments, adding to the vibrancy of the place.
Basketball Court in front of Asturias Municipal Hall - in addition to the blue-colored covered court at the back, there is another basketball court situated in front of their municipal hall. The best part is that these facilities are free of cost and very convenient for everyone. So, if you are interested in playing basketball, you should definitely visit the park. Just remember to bring your ball along.
I'm not sure what these stalls are, but there is somewhat a fair happening in the town. When I went here, it was early morning, and the stalls were empty, but I guess it was fair. There might be a fair ongoing, and these stalls are used by vendors selling their products. I'm not sure, and that's just my theory.
Not to mention, the park is just along the highway, so if you're going to pass the town, it's obvious because not only is there a huge signage in front, but you will see it from afar, and you will have, maybe know that that's already the Naghalin Park, Asturias.
In January 2024, the Christmas decorations were still up in the town center, showcasing the Candy Land theme that was prepared by the team for the 2023 holiday season. The vibrant and beautiful designs created a festive atmosphere that visitors, both local and international, would enjoy. The display turned the town center into a giant candy land that would delight both children and adults alike.
Naghalin Park in Asturias is a lush green space with an abundance of trees and plants that enhance its beauty. The park is filled with a variety of trees that add life to the surroundings and provide fresh air. The chirping of birds and the rustling of leaves can be heard as the wind blows, making it a peaceful place to visit.
San Roque De Montpellier Asturias Church
The San Roque De Montpellier church of Asturias is an impressive sight, situated in the heart of Naghalin Park between the municipal hall and covered court. The sheer size and stunning design of the church left me in awe, especially considering all of this is located in one central location within the park. It was my first time visiting, and I was truly amazed by the beauty of the area.
Despite Christmas season being over, the Candyland design for Christmas 2023 still adds a lively and colorful atmosphere to the place. The undamaged designs are a testament to the care and pride the locals have for their property and designs.
This is the Asturias Covered Court that has a signage, NO SHOES NO PLAY AND NO ENTRY OF ALL TYPES OF VEHICLES AND MOTORCYCLES to keep the basketball court clean and organized. The players must indeed follow the rules in order to play in the area.
Asturia’s Naghalin Park is incomplete without a children's playground. Luckily, it offers a variety of playgrounds for kids to play in and enjoy for free. As a mother, I appreciate the well-maintained equipment and newly painted steel, which ensures the safety of our little ones. Whether you're a local or tourist, this playground is a must-visit for families looking for a safe and fun place to play.
The municipality in Asturias is well-maintained and convenient for both locals and tourists. The venue of public places is located in one place, making it easy to access the Municipal Court, basketball court, church, and covered court. The close proximity of these places to each other, inside the park, makes it convenient for people to move around. For instance, if you need something at the municipal hall, you can easily go then right after if you want to attend to a holy mass, you can then proceed to the nearby church.
One thing I love the most is the convenience of having public offices, churches, and other facilities all in one area. This eliminates the need for people to spend money on transportation or walk long distances. This idea has been implemented in Naghalin Park, where all these facilities are found in one place. Unlike other municipalities where the municipal house and churches are located in different areas, the Naghalin Park has ensured that all essential facilities are easily accessible.
I was amazed by Naghalin Park during my first visit. Although it wasn't the main town we were visiting, I decided to make a quick stop and explore the place. Hopefully, on my next visit, I will have more time to explore the town. If there's any event happening in the park, I would love to attend.
See you on my next adventure! Ciao!☺︎♡
