On 5-21-20 I decided that I would finally plant sunflower seeds!
I decided to try an experiment, seeds in sphagnum moss...
And only after 2 days they sprouted!
WHAAAAATTTTT
I was absolutely shocked!
I keep all of my propagations on a heating mat that is always on medium.
This current propagation is placed in an old muffin container
(REDUCE-REUSE-RECYCLE)
I checked the seeds again on 5-25-20
and added some other plants into the container
This time I noticed they had sprouted LEAVES!
Almost all of my seeds were starting to sprout, the side view is super interesting to me.
This view is one of the reasons I like propagating plants in clear plastic or glass with moss.
Today is 5-27-20 and I wanted to see what progress they have made in the last 2 days.
I had accidentally left the container open overnight on the 25th, which caused the moss to dry out so I was a little concerned that I might have ruined this project.
But nope, they're continuing to thrive!
They have started to grow roots inside of the moss, how rad is this?!
So far this experiment is going successfully!
The other plants I added to the container are; Philodendron Micans (top right), Begonia Cissus Discolor (top left), and Hoya Linearis (bottom right.)
Before moving my B. Cissus Discolor in this container it was in moss and under a glass dome to encourage humidity.
I was so worried when I got this unrooted cutting that I would struggle to root it and it would die...
Surprisingly, it has started to root!
My Philo Micans are unrooted and so it the Hoya Linearis, let's hope these mofos are as successful as the others.
