There are quiet weekends, others maybe you can go out, others simply make you stay at home and watch TV, but last weekend was very special, not only for being at home and rest from work but also because we had a visit from someone we had not seen for many years.
It is no secret to anyone the political and economic situation that Venezuela is going through, and through this there are millions of people who have had to leave the country to seek a better future, in my opinion I think there is not a Venezuelan in the country who has not left at least one friend, a neighbor, a relative, in short someone close, we have all gone through it, and it is not easy, on the contrary it is very hard.
My husband and I, 5 years ago a mutual friend left us, my husband met him before me, but because he had been friends with him for many years, even studying together and everything, he became a family friend, when he decided to leave we were all surprised, however the decision made by him was absolutely respectable, since he had to see for his family, and for his baby who at that time was small.
It is not easy for a person to be separated from his family or a neighbor or friend due to circumstances caused by governmental entities (referring to the case of my country), it is not knowing if you will see him again, it is not knowing if it is really right or wrong, but for a person who has the need to leave the country to improve his family and has to leave his comfort zone and his comfort and leave his family, his parents, his wives and children, friends in general, I think it is even more difficult.
People who have had to leave Venezuela have to take with them a whole life, beautiful memories, a deep love and mixed feelings stuffed in a suitcase, and many times only in a bag because they do not have the money to travel comfortably and to not have to carry so much weight.
Not only do they leave their families behind, they leave behind dreams, longings, memories, and many times they lose their future because they think of an improvement for what they have left behind.
But sometimes it is not all bad, there are people who do not do badly, who manage to stabilize and thus can help the relatives who remained, this is the case of our friend.
His father stayed in Venezuela because he did not want to travel, 2 weeks ago he received one of those messages that you never want to read, where he said that his father had fallen and that he had been found on the floor in the middle of a pool of blood.
Without hesitating for a minute he spoke to his boss and immediately left for Venezuela to see what had happened to his father since he was an elderly person, the neighbors who took him to the doctor told him that he had received a very hard blow to the head, and that due to the symptoms of disorientation he had, and that as a result of the blow his head had been stitched with 5 stitches, they should take him to a neurologist immediately, so they let him know.
When he is entering Venezuela, by land, because it is important to point out that many of those who enter the It is worth mentioning that many of those who have left find it difficult to save money, an unexpected message arrived saying: "your father died".
I think it is not easy for anyone to have their father die, but knowing that you could not be with him in his last moments for reasons beyond your control, I think it makes the situation even tougher.
With no encouragement my friend ended up coming home, he went to the hospital to legally claim his dad's body, took it to be cremated and the ashes were taken to where his mother's ashes were buried.
In his 5 years of absence from the country, he did not accompany us in the death of my mother-in-law, my father, nor my father-in-law recently, which I deeply regret and he let us know, but we know it is not his fault.
With this unexpected, but very pleasant visit we confirmed that despite the distance, when the love of friendship is very strong it is not lost, we met only one day because he had to leave as soon as possible, the stories were many, the memories even more, despite the moment the laughter came and went, of course we could not miss the consent of the food that he likes.
I thank GOD for allowing us to be together this weekend, for continuing our friendship despite the distance and for being in good health.
