Just over a week ago, the nominees for the prestigious Ballon d'Or award were announced. It is an award that Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi have shared for 10 of the last 11 years.
This time, however, it seems that there are many more about the bid, and Zinedine Zidane has also given his bid on who he thinks deserves to win this year's edition. In an interview with French Téléfoot, he has revealed that compatriot Karim Benzema should win:
Benzema deserves to win. He is a great player that I had the honor of coaching. He can do anything on the field. He's at the top and I hope he wins this Ballon d'Or.
Karim Benzema has also been in excellent shape over the past year. Since the start of last season, he has made 40 goals and 16 appearances for Real Madrid. He also made a comeback on the French national team during this summer's European Championship finals, and since his return he has made six goals and two assists.
