For me I would say CR7 is the greatest player ever, and this is simply because he has proven his worth playing in different terrains, to which he had energetically scoured with his impressive performance over the years. Even some of the greatest player that has ever graced the field of play as at a point proved themselves on not being a one club wonder by trying their luck on different atmosphere, with Ronaldinho, Zinedine Zidane, Paolo Nedved, Kaka, and the likes..

Don't even try and cheap in on why the great Brazilian maestro, Pele has only played for Santos in his entire career because football fans considered Diego Maradona to be a better and great player than Pele due to the latter's involvement in a series of cup wins with different clubs.

So, I think Messi needs a new challenge if at all he wants to cement a place for himself in the all time great status list. He has created for himself a "comfort" zone at barca and that i feel is his Achilles heels. Proving himself in another league with different approach to the game will further cement his claim as one of the GOATS.

Messi is a fantastic player no doubt, but football is a team sport and no matter how many assists and goals or an individual accolades you have without any trophies to back it up, then you are just an average player. Maradonna has done almost everything for his country, that's why he was regarded the greatest Argentine player ever. You can only compare Messi with Alberto Ohaco who has also won diffrent tittles for the same club Racing Club de Avellanesa back in his days.
