Yeah, I don't really think of AI use in this case to be a 'caveat'. It's all about how good the game is. After all, if nobody told you, you probably wouldn't know AI was used. Even when that is not true today, it will be true tomorrow. While this may not be a great version, AI has only been a consumer technology for a few years. I wonder how good it will be in a few more?
People tend to overdo their criticism of AI. I understand their approach, but if you use AI "wisely" and with some morality (we don't pretend to be doing what we did ourselves, what the AI did mechanically, and what we did working with the AI), then all the "buts" I had about it basically disappear.
Especially with older games. Even if a human understands the subject very well, they always miss some details. A machine/script, on the other hand, operates without emotion, has no limitations like a human, and isn't fatigued – it's easier for them to remove elements that slow down the game a bit.
And as for future predictions – I believe that if we don't hit some "wall" with AI limitations, this is one of the greatest discoveries in human history, one that will be permanently associated with us.
